A Former Prosecutor With 20 Years Of Legal Experience

I am D. Scott Rieth, a former prosecutor and skilled Bradenton Internet sex crimes attorney with more than 20 years of experience. When you hire me as your lawyer, I will immediately intervene on your behalf, contacting the prosecutor to discuss your case and share any details the arresting officer may have left out. This swift and early intervention may mean the difference between formal charges being filed or your charges being dismissed.

An Internet Solicitation Defense Attorney

I understand the shame and embarrassment that can accompany Internet sex crime charges. You can count on me to handle your case with care and compassion.

As a former prosecutor and experienced attorney, I have handled hundreds of sex offense cases from both sides. Whether you have been charged with possession of sexual images of children or Internet solicitation of a minor for sex, I can help you fight your Internet sex crimes charges.

The ICAC And Internet Sex Sting Operations

Law enforcement investigation units devoted to protecting children from online sexual predators are expected to adhere to strict protocols for gathering evidence. Many, however, are driven by volume of arrests as opposed to upholding the law.

As a result, many adults (often adult males) in Florida who use online chat rooms and dating sites have been arrested and accused of crimes against children or solicitation of sex from a minor. These charges have been readily handed down even when the officer on the other end of the chat room manipulated information to entice an otherwise law-abiding individual: something we call entrapment.

Upon investigation of the police procedures used in ICAC sex stings, it is sometimes found the undercover officer is the one who continued to steer conversations to topics of a sexual nature. The undercover officer may also have initially given vague information or explicitly made the accused believe he or she was talking to an adult, only to claim to be underage when the conversation turned sexual. The officer may also be the one to suggest travelling to meet a minor or misconstrue otherwise regular conversation into sexual innuendo.

All of these manipulative procedures can be brought to light in your defense. You do not have to let the ICAC or another investigative agency destroy your reputation with accusations of a sex crime against a child.

If you have been charged with an Internet sex crime, you need compassionate and aggressive representation. I will carefully analyze your case to determine if certain motions can be filed to strengthen your defense. If it is in your best interests, I can negotiate a plea bargain agreement with the prosecutor. If the prosecutor's plea bargain offer is unacceptable or your arrest was unjustified, I will aggressively defend your rights in the courtroom.
